Print Making

 Description:

Students will use Gelli plates to create a design and print. They start by putting one color of paint on the Gelli plate and use their brayer to roll the paint across the Gelli plate. Next, students would use stencils or q-tips to make designs on the gelli plate. After that, students would take a piece of printer paper and put it over the design. The students will then take their brayer and roll over the printer paper. After rolling over the printer paper, the students will pull back their printer paper to reveal their design. When they get done making all of their prints, the students will trace their different chameleon stencils and cut them out. After, the students will glue the pieces in order onto the construction paper. Once all their pieces are glued down, they will draw eyes, a mouth, a tongue, and four feet. The students had to use at least four different prints and used three different colors that represented different characteristics that they liked about each other.

For example: blue = calm         red = strong                pink = friendly

Extension Activity:

An extension activity could be the students researching different habitats chameleons live in. They could then look at what causes chameleons to turn the different colors.
